Marchesa Autumn/Winter 13' Inspired Nail Art

2 comments :
So last night I did a Marchesa Nail Art from their Autumn/Winter 12-13' Collection. At first, I wanted to do another set of Chinese New Year nails with a gold and yellow combination. But somehow I found myself back to ogling yet another Marchesa collection. Everything is just so feminine and pretty! Mark my words, one day I will own a dress... perhaps a wedding dress! This inspiration came from Marchesa's Autumn/Winter 13-14' Collection. I decided to forgo my Chinese New Year nail art idea and chose re-create the pattern from the dress below.

Since my nails are rather small, it's very difficult to fit in all the details of the dress. I did what I can to simplify the design while maintaining and staying true to the aesthetics. In case you're curious, my nails are about 1 cm in length and a little less in width. For this design, I had to fit a lot of details into my little canvas!

Born Pretty Store Review: 12-Color Rhinestone + Marchesa Inspired Nail Art

No comments :
I haven't done a fashion inspired nail art in the longest time, so here is my Marchesa from their Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 collection. I was just reading blogs and I stumbled across Marchesa and Revlon nail wrap collaboration. Just like the collection that inspired it, the design of the nail art wraps is absolutely stunning! I haven't come across this product, but I would definitely consider purchasing them. In the meantime, here's my nail art inspired by the same collection.

Stunning Nail Wrap/Revlon Interpretation of the same dress!

For this nail art, I used black rhinestones from "12 colors Rhinestones Acrylic UV Nail Art Kit w/ box & Pen" from Born Pretty Store. I'm not sure how the pen works, so I use my normal technique of placing a dallop of clear coat (doesn't matter if it's base or top coat), place the decal, and seal it in by painting the entire nail with the clear coat. This product is sold on Born Pretty Store for $7.59, which is an amazing deal considering you get two boxes of rhinestones. This can literally last you for ages! Also, if you want to save an additional 10% from your purchase, you can use my code: NVL91

Chinese New Year Nails: Horse

4 comments :
I am officially Quarter of a Century Old.... plus three days (since I wrote this past 12 am)! Yup, I just turned 25 and I have to say I don't feel any different or look any different. It must be Asian genes I guess. I'm sure you're all familiar with the asian aging process (if not, click here) and it's so true. My mother, grandmother, aunts all have these little asian afros! I forbid myself to ever having one, but perhaps I will change my mind when I'm 50. I celebrated with 25 of my friends on Saturday by having a party at my place. There were new friends, high schools friends, university friends, childhood friends, it was an extremely amazing mixture of people that I have met throughout my life. I feel really fortunate to have kept in contact with them. Being "grown up", it is getting increasingly difficult to stay in contact, but I am really thankful that everyone made the time and effort to come.

On the day of my birthday I went to Momofuku Noodle Bar. If you are ever in Toronto, that's definitely a restaurant you should try! The pork belly buns are to die for. I would binge eat those buns if they weren't so fatty and expensive. All in all, I had an amazing birthday and the only thing I regret I didn't do is take pictures!

As you may be aware, Chinese New Year falls on a different date than actual new years. I can't keep track with what day or month it falls on. Sometimes it falls in January and sometimes it's in February. But apparently this year, it's going to be on January 31. Ever since I lived in Toronto, I haven't really done anything to celebrate it. Back in Sudbury (my hometown), our Chinese community would host an event with lots of food, performances, and games. My mother was always Master of Ceremony. I have to say though, her charisma and confidence in public speaking was never passed on to me. But luckily her friendliness did, so I guess I have that going for me!

Anyways, 2014 is the year of the Horse.  Of course, I had to create a nail art to celebrate this special event. Check out the materials after the jump!

A month ago, NailPolishCanada.com contacted me to check a new line of polishes called Rainbow Honey. Obviously as a nail polish junkie, I obviously said yes! Shipping is free for any orders over $25. Right now for a limited time, "all orders ship FREE in Canada", with no minimum purchase.

Used: Apple Kid (Base), Tessie (Swirls), and Pink Cloud (Ombre)

According to the Rainbow Honey Official Website, "[Our] products are designed and made in the United States of America, always free of Formaldehyde, Toluene, and Dibutyl Phthalate (the “big 3”), and with ingredients that have never been tested on animals." They have an amazing line of colours and they are all custom blended. I was sent five mini bottles of 4ml nail polish. I believe these are the sample size sent for PR purposes. Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone is recovering from their holidays and finally get some downtime. I spent my Christmas holiday back North in Sudbury, where recently it has hit -35 (with windshield -50!). Fortunately for me, the cold and snow was manageable while I was there or else I would be hibernating. For New Years, I hosted a party for about 35 guest. It was a lot of fun and a lot to clean up afterwards! All in all, an amazing beginning of a new year.

If you haven't heard, Radiant Orchid is Pantone's 2014 Colour of the Year. So be prepared to see a lot of bright fuchsia colours in this coming year. I'm not complaining though, any shades of purple is my favourite. But this colour is especially fun since it's so bright! Ever since they announced the colour, I've been wanting to create a nail art inspired by this brilliant hue. So here it is.
