It has been a while since I've done a really complex nail art. I think my Game of Thrones nail art exhausted all creative energy out of me. Maybe that's why I went on a hiatus because I put so much effort into it and I didn't know how to top it. I know they are excuses, but I wanted to challenge myself again.
So this is what I came up with. From googling other Breaking Bad nail art, the concept of incorporating the smoke scene from the opening, blue meth, and Walter White/Heisenberg is pretty unoriginal. But here is my contribution and my interpretation to what is already out there. At first I wanted use the plastic bag technique to create Walter White, but I didn't let it dry properly and ruined it. Then I gave up and decided to draw it directly on my nails instead, which I found to be much easier.
If you like doing portraits on your nails (which I'm not sure a lot of you do), the best light skin colour polish is Julep Alexandra. I mixed it with white to add in highlight and I used a slightly darker colour for shadows. After it dried, I used a 0.05 Staedtler pen to create all the details.
Index and Ring Finger (Smoke from the Opening Scene)
I used a dry marbling technique that I learnt from this video, but I didn't follow the instructions completely. I put on a layer of darker green polish and then a black polish right after. You have to make sure that it is still very wet or else the swirls won't look as nice and clump up. Again, while it is still wet, use a lighter green and add in a few dots near the tip of your nails. Then with a toothbrush, make the smoking swirls. To add some yellow accents to the nails, I dabbed a drop of yellow polish on my palette. Then soaked my nail art brush in acetone with a bit of the yellow polish and make light swirls over the green "smoke". The latter part is not necessary, but I just wanted it to resemble more of the yellow smoke in the opening sequence.
Middle and Pink Finger (Blue Meth)
So for the blue meth, I tried free-handing but it was a total fail. I took the easy route and used the blue round glitter that I got from Born Pretty Store. Make sure you add a lot of top coat to make it stick on!
Anyways, that's all for now. I really like the look of the smoke so maybe in a future post I will create rainbow flame nails! If you have a challenge for me, simply leave it in the comment section below.
I look forward to hearing from you!
