Spring Loose Button Luxe Box 2013

My Steven and Chris Luxebox has finally arrived. I got an early spoiler because I received an email to my "personal product dashboard", which replaces the description card. Instead we get a little pamphlet that includes all the products that were featured and to compare what we didn't get.

I wish Loose Button made a greater effort to have the boxes delivered on time. We are suppose to receive these boxes every three months, so why must they wait until the end of March to deliver these boxes? That is one thing that really annoys me because we already have to wait three months for the box.

Anyways as you can tell, Loose Button collaborated with Steven and Chris, who are Canadian talk show hosts. They talk about house decor, fashion, beauty products and so on. This season, the beauty product team at Steven and Chris "personally picked" the products that are customized just for us. In essence, it was an extremely hyped up box.

Check out the samples that I received after the jump!

I am definitely not wowed by this box compared to lux boxes in the past. For a box sponsored by Canadian television personalities, this is pretty underwhelming box. It's a huge let down because it was extremely hyped up. Anyways, let's break down what I got. I am always curious about the monetary value of these seasonal box especially since that have 3 months to put a box together and they increased the price to approximately $30. In the end, I want to know if it's "worth it". However, based on my initial reaction, I really don't think so.

MARNI: Marni Fragrance
Just like the clothes Consuelo designs, the fragrance is classic, yet hard to pin point. It is also subtly addictive and seductive, and eminently timeless. It is an olfactory experience that grows with the wearer. Never blatant, it demands a closer inspection. It draws in, elegantly and silently, and shows a bold personality that becomes one with the wearer.
Full Size: $134.99 (65 ml)
Sample Value: $14.54 (7 ml)
  • The scent is definitely hard to pin point and I guess that's the only part of the description I would agree with. To me, the fragrance reminds me of a weird combination of smelly Chinese medicine and some sort of sweet scent. Smell is very personal, and that's exactly what it reminds me of. With its high price tag and weird scent, I am definitely not a fan. I will most likely stick with my sweet and florally perfumes.

BLUE LAGOON SKIN CARE: Silica Mud Mask
The Silica mud is the Blue Lagoon's signature element. The pure white geothermal mud deep cleanses and exfoliates. Naturally strengthens skin's barrier function¹. Brings out the skin's inner glow, gives it a vital energy boost and smooth complexion. Excellent face & body mask. Use 2-3 times a week or when skin needs en extra boost. Fragrance and color free. For all skin types.
Full Size: $100 (200 ml)
Sample Value: $15.00 (30 ml)

  • This is a pretty good travel sized sample. You would think a "mud mask" would be green or brown, but the mask is actually white! I'm definitely excited to try this out!

BLUE LAGOON SKIN CARERich Nourishing Cream
Blue Lagoon rich nourishing cream We are happy to include our latest product, rich nourishing cream, in the spring Luxe Box. Full Size: $130 (30 ml)
Samples Value: $8.66 (2 ml)
  • One packet sample? Really Loose Button? Haven't we learned from passed complaints that one use packets does not allow us to form a good opinion on a product. I was kind of disappointed when this counted towards the guaranteed 7 or 8 samples per box. Fortunately, Loose Button sent out an email saying that this packet was an "add-on" to the above sample and not an allocated seventh product. Loose Button will be sending me another product, so I'm really curious as to what that will be. I'm kind of skeptical as to whether it was in fact a genuine mistake or they are just doing damage control. I am sure that anyone who has the same box as me would be disappointed by a one use packet sample.

BOURJOIS PARIS: Healthy Mix Foundation
Healthy Mix Serum Foundation contains vitamin-gorged and anti-oxidising fruit to erase signs of fatigue, it evens out the complexion and revives its radiance. Bourjois' 1st radiance-boosting fruit therapy foundation for a flawless complexion for up to 16hrs! Its exquisite glide-on formula blends onto the skin for a flawless, yet natural finish. And.. it's good for your skin! Key attributes: 8 hrs moisture, Lets skin breathe and Dermatologically tested.
Full Size: $27 (30 ml)
Sample Value: $2.56 (0.95ml x 3)
  • Again, I hate how these packet samples makes up one product. I believe Loose Button changed the term from "deluxe size" to "travel size", so they can justify giving out these types of samples out. Anyways, when I was watching the Steven and Chris' Loose Button clip they were raving about this product because of the use of super fruits. The claim that it last for 16 hours is quite unbelievable  but I won't know until I try. I am always looking for products that will last for a long time. I have what I call my "ugly phase". Basically by 3 pm every week day, without fail, I look like a blotchy mess. I get oily, my foundation wears off, and my eyeliner gets smudged. So yes if there is a 16 hour miracle foundation, I will be excited to try.

LANCOME: Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate
Award-winning serum that helps create a more youthful-looking skin by promoting natural skin renewal that is characteristic of young skin. Visible skin in just 7 days. Drop by drop, skin is vibrant with youth, its tone becomes astonishingly even and its texture dramatically refined.
Full Size: $95 (1 oz)
Sample Value: $25.67  (0.27 oz)
  • This is not my first Genifique that I received from Luxe box. I'm not a big fan of anti-aging program just because I think I still look like a teenager. But I will still test it out and hope that it at least hydrates my skin. My topical acne cream is causing my skin to flake, it's kinda gross and super annoying.

LOOSE BUTTON: Blending Sponge
A makeup sponge applicator that flawlessly blends in your makeup for the perfect look. The applicator should be dampended with water before use and can be used with liquid, cream, loose powder or pressed powder makeup. For best results, use the applicator in a stippling or bouncing motion.
Full Size: $10
Sample Value: $10
  • I would value this beauty blender about $10 since the dupes that I've been seeing around is about that. I guess it must be really good timing to receive this product because I bought a dupe from Winners just a couple days before. I tested it out this morning and it does help apply my foundation more evenly. However, I think the sponge still absorbs the product so it takes away the foundation coverage because my acne scars are a little more visible than if I applied it with a normal foundation brush. I wouldn't recommend this product for people who suffer from break-outs. But everyone else who just want an even complexion, this is a pretty good product to use.

L'OCCITANE: Shea Butter Hand Cream
This hand cream penetrates quickly to protect, nourish and moisturize your hands. Rapidly absorbed with no oily traces, this hand cream doesn't need to be reapplied even after frequent hand washing. The minimal scent makes it suitable for men and women.
Full Value: $30.00 (150 ml)
Sample Value: $2.00 (10 ml)
  • It has a very nice scent, but $30.00 a hand cream, I think it's a bit steep for me. I tried a little bit of it and soften my hands almost immediately. It's a nice product to try though!

Total Value of this box: $78.43

It's a pretty high value box and I definitely got my money's worth. I am still expecting another product and from reading other people's posts, I think the missing product is a Kerastase Bain Chroma Active. I could be wrong though and Loose Button can throw in something completely random. I am very curious to find out! I hope you enjoyed this unboxing, I've unsubscribed to a lot of beauty boxes since more have bursted into scene. But getting a Loose Button every few months is a nice treat.

Anyways, let me know what you received and what you thought!
