One Year Blogiversary & Isabel Marant Nail Set

I can't believe it's been one year since I started my blog, well one year and three days. I feel like it was yesterday when I was calling one of my good friend Katrina and telling her on a whim that I was going to start a nail art blog. She immediately said "do it". I'm kind of surprised and thrilled at the number of followers and viewers that I have on all my social media channels. So thank you so much for constantly visting my blog, commenting, and sharing!

I've received so much support and feedback from friends and family. I always find it so weird when my guy friends compliment me about this website, but nonetheless at least I know it's reaching beyond the targeted female readers. Anyways, my blog has provided me with so many fun opportunities and taught me a lot as well. I think after a year of showcasing my nail art, the next logical step is to make it available to my readers! I decided to use the online shop Big Cartel just because it allows buyers to pay through paypal or by credit card. I also like that it doesn't take any portion of the sale for first time online shop owner like myself. However, with a basic membership you only get basic function, which is something I am alright with for now. From surveying a couple people they have helped come up with a pricing of $30 to $50 depending on the complexity. If you are interested in a customized set, simply contact me (nailartcouture@gmail.com) for a quotation!

Born Pretty Store: Nail Tip Review

A couple weeks ago, I was contacted by Born Pretty Store to review some of the amazing beauty and nail art products that are available in their shop. Starting an online shop has been on the back of my mind for a while and I was really encouraged by my friends and co-worker to start it up. When the opportunity came forward, I knew I wanted to test out their nail tips! There are so many nail tips available from pointy tips to colorful tips. I chose the one that I thought looked the most natural. The one that I picked is called Natural False Nail Tip Half Tip, which comes with 500 nail tips (50 nail sets) for $5.93. Since it is shipping from China, it takes about 3 weeks or a little more for North Americans to receive their package. If you're looking to create your own nail set, this is an amazing website to stock up on nail art tools! Don't forget to use the code: NVL91 to get 10% off!

To learn more about the tips and nail art, keep reading!

The plastic bag as well as the nail tip are numbered so you'll never be confused with them. The nail tip are a little bigger than an average finger nail, which allow the nail tips to be cut down and fitted to your nail beds. The nail tips are made from Korea and they are pretty well known for providing good quality nail products. The nail tips are also quite flexible so it doesn't crack when it is slightly bent. The only negative experience that I have is that it's extremely awkward to stamp and paint on, but I think with practice it would feel more natural.

About the Nail Art
This nail art is inspired by Isabel Marant Spring Summer 2013 collection during Paris Fashion Week. To check out the rest of this amazing collection, click HERE. I love the black, white, and red combination with the mix print. It very feminine as well as bold. In order to replicate it, I used several nail stamping plates to create the nail design, as well as free-hand additional details. I've encountered some friends who say "nail stamping is cheating", and I have to disagree. I manipulate and combine different stamped images in order to achieve the result I want. It is definitely easier said than done! It is also a lot more time consuming than you anticipate, so I a lot of love and work goes into any nail art I create. A complex nail art like this one is $50, but since I am testing out my nail art shop I am selling it for $30! I like creating one of a kind design, so once a nail set is sold from shop, I will not create the same nail set!
