Keep Calm and Stache On: Movember Nails

Yesterday my friends and I hosted a Movember Beer Pong tournament. Entry fees went into paying off our beer keg, donation, as well as grand prize. Unfortunately, some people didn't show up so the donations weren't as high as anticipated. But we were still able to donate $50 towards the Movember cause. My friend Pauline has already reached her goal of $500 so she will be doing a VERY public Gangnam Style dance in different places across Sudbury and uploading it to YouTube. I helped her with the final stretch just because I want to see her do this. Pauline decided to extend her goal to $600, and when she does, she's going to do Ellen Degeneres' Dance Dare (dancing behind strangers without their knowledge).  So amazing and generous readers, I humbly ask you to donate a small amount of $1 or $2 to help her reach her next goal. If we all contribute a little bit, I think she can totally meet her next goal. I really want her to do the dance dare, I know it will be hilarious!

Her movember page is: (paypal or credit card)

Anyways, my friend/co-host got me an awesome "Keep Calm and Stache On" t-shirt! She got it from American Apparel, so it was super tight. Luckily I was able to stretch it out a little bit and I had a red cardigan to match it with. Of course I had to match this t-shirt with some nail art! Check it out after the jump!

Julep Breast Cancer Awareness Contest Prize

A month ago, I participated in Julep's Breast Cancer Awareness Instamani Contest. The rules were very simple, just upload a breast cancer awareness inspired manicure on Instagram with the Julep tags #JulepBCA and #JulepLovesPink. I had my creative juices flowing and I came up with a manicure with changing torsos in their pink skivvies. The body represents three different body shapes, curvy, fit, and skinny because breast cancer affect women of all shapes and sizes. When I put my thumb to the fingers with different torso, it forms a full image. Check out what I did for my Movember Prostate Cancer Awareness Month!

There were over 70 amazing entries and I was fortunate enough to win the contest! Want to check out my awesome possum prize? Read on after the jump!

Movember Nails

I would like to present to you another "Cause" inspired nail. During the month of October, I created a nail art to raise Breast Cancer Awareness. This month is all about the gentlemen, their health, and their moustaches. Of course I had to create nail art for Movember! For those who are unfamiliar with Movember, "it is moustache growing event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for prostate cancer and male mental health initiative". I know that there are some unique twist to this event. A family's optometrist in my hometown is hoping to reach his goal of $1000 (click to donate) and when he does he promises to shave off his moustache that he's been sporting since the early 70's! My friend who is a self-proclaimed introvert and fellow nail art lover promises to do a public Gangnam Style dance and upload it to youtube when she reaches her goal of $500 (click to donate). For myself, my friends and I are hosting a small beer pong tournament and putting the entry fees toward this cause. What are you doing for Movember?

I loved what I did for my second rendition of the Breast Cancer Nail art, so I did this moustache Movember nail in a similar fashion! Want to see what they look like when put together, check it out after the jump!

Bundle Monster Review

A while ago, Nail Polish Canada contacted me to review Bundle Monster Nail Stamping Plates, which I immediately said yes! I have been a Konad user for at least 10 years now, so it interested me to see what other companies have to offer. I've been to nail supplies stores that sell "faux-nads", but I felt their laser engraved images were never as sharp as the Konad plates. So I have always been partial to Konad plates and I even bought one of the large kits at the CNE a couple years ago.

The Monster Bundle Package that Nail Polish Canada sent me is from the 2012 collection. They are sold for $23.99 per package of 25 plates, or $4.00 per plate. If you're just getting into nail art and you're interested in nail stamps, this is a great beginners package. Konad plates can range from $7.00 to $12.00, which definitely adds up if you're looking to grow your collection.

Erdem Pre-Fall 12' Inspired Nail Art

We are mid-way through November and this is my first post! Sorry ladies, but my nails chipped and my  6 years old Macbook Pro cracked so I haven't been too motivated to write on my broken laptop. It still functions, which is why I'm still able to create this post. It is just a little bit annoying since I have this giant black dead pixel spot. Dumb move on my part since I watched a movie in bed and left my computer near the edge where it fell. But I'm going to be positive and take it as a sign that it's time for an upgrade, especially to the gorgeous new iMac that's coming out! Anyways, this is going to be hurting my wallet this month. Maybe it's time to start selling my nail art too... would you buy it?

So here's an extra intricate and time consuming nail art for your viewing pleasure. This nail art is inspired by a dress in Erdem Pre-Fall 2012 collection. This is my second Erdem inspired nail art, the first one being the dress that Emma Watson wore at her TIFF primiere. I love how feminine his clothes are so I immediately gravitated towards his collection when viewing for inspiration. I also really wanted to use a neutral color like brown since I feel like it's such an underrated nail color. Autumn is definitely a good time to wear browns and darks.
