July Julep Maven Review (3 Boxes!)

***ENTER MY JULEP INTRO BOX GIVEAWAY! bit.ly/Julepgiveaway ***

Whoo! Whoo! I was up to Sudbury for the week and I came back to Toronto to 3, yes 3, July Julep Maven boxes. How did I get 3 you ask? Well I earned two for my mother and I through the lovely people who purchased through our referral links. I won my third one from The Daily Varnish's  giveaway! I totally forgot I entered until they contacted me with that lovely surprise. I've been really lucky this month because I also won Canadian Beauty Review's CoverFX giveaway as well. I can't wait to get that package! I really hope my luck rubs off on other aspect of my life as well. I had an job interview a while ago that I believed went really well and I have another one coming up. I'm just hoping for some good news, so readers, keep your fingers crossed for me!

It's not a golden box with the entire July collection, but this is obviously good enough! Want to know which styles I received? Keep reading!

So the first thing I noticed is that Julep's packaging drastically changed in size. This is a good change since it's reducing paper waste! In addition, because of the package size, all 3 boxes were able to fit perfectly in my mail box. I don't have to go through the concierge at my condo building to retrieve it. Julep has changed a lot since I first subscribed and I appreciate the special touches Julep put into their maven boxes. This month is all about sparkle and glitter. I always look forward to the featured quote that matches the theme of the box. This month's quote is by Marianne Williamson, who is a "spiritual activist and best selling arthur". I had no idea who she was, until now.

July American Beauty
JULEP: Nail Vernis
O Canada: Sheer Glitter with accent of cardinal red, it's like nail art in a bottle!
Yumi: Pink Opalescent multi-dimensional glitter.
Lynn: Nude blush pearl
Value: $42.00 (3 x $14.00)
  • I was actually debating between this box and the Bombshell box. I really wanted the lip gloss with my middle name, but I didn't want an extra Kate polish since I was also getting It Girl. I ended up picking American Beauty because I really like how it was swatched in the Julep's blog post. I really like Lynn, it is a very beautiful pinkish nude color with a little bit of shimmer that is opaque after two coats. Yumi, a polish named after Jane Park's daughter, is a pink glitter polish that would look better if it was painted on top of a base color. The pink is not that noticeable when it's painted on its own.
JULEP: Lip Vernis
Peony: Nude blush creme lip vernis
Value: $18.00
  • I don't own any nude lip products, so this lip vernis is my first. The product looks thick and opaque in the bottle, but it's pretty sheer and gives a really good tint of color. I don't think nude color is the best look for me, maybe it will take some time to get accustomed too. I still prefer a rosier color.
July It Girl
JULEP: Nail Vernis
O CanadaSheer Glitter with accent of cardinal red, it's like nail art in a bottle!
Mila: Charcoal, multi-colored glitter
Kate: Soft white pearl
Daphne: Fresh seafoam green creme
Value: $56.00 (4 x $14.00)
  • A lot of people were a little bit disappointed with Daphne because it's actually darker than the swatch that was shown on Julep's blog. It's a very greyish-blue rather than green. I don't mind it since I don't have any colors like this. Mila has a lot small rainbow glitter particles. It reminds me of Nicole by OPI's Rainbow in the S-Kylie, but I prefer Mila a lot more. Kate is a gorgeous pearly white that applies flawlessly with two coats. I am extremely happy with this month's It Girl box.
July Classic with a Twist
JULEP: Nail Vernis
O CanadaSheer Glitter with accent of cardinal red, it's like nail art in a bottle!
Audrey: Soft light pink micro-shimmer
Freida: Electric fuchsia micro-shimmer
Value: $42.00 (3 x $14.00)
  • I love Freida, it remind me of Barbie pink! It's very bright, shimmery, and overall gorgeous color! Audrey is a shimmery pale pink almost nude polish, it's also very pretty.
JULEP: Lip Vernis
Camellia: Soft light pink pastel lip vernis
Value: $18.00
  • So Camellia is suppose to match the Audrey polish like Peony is suppose to match Lynn polish. Apparently the current fashion trend is matching your lip color to your nail color. Honestly, I'm not in love with the lip glosses just because I find both of them very light and I don't find it go well with my skin tone. I might just give this to my friend or my mom. So unfortunate, I really liked the forumla.

We also received fireballs, which taste exactly like cinnamon hearts. I really dislike cinnamon flavor, but I don't mind it when it is mixed in with something sweeter. I usually mix my cinnamon hearts with hot chocolate, so I'm probably going to do the same with these fireballs or give them to my friends. I might even throw them out.

All in all, I received a bunch of lovely, fun, and sparkly colors this month.  I think my favorites are Kate and Freida! Since I received 3 boxes, I have 2 extra O Canada polishes that I'm either going to save it for gifts or to giveaway! What do you think of this month's polish colors and lip glosses?

If you're interested in the Julep Maven program and want to learn a little bit more about it, I have all the details HERE. But if you're ready to sign up or at least try out the penny deal, I appreciate if you used my mom's referral link: http://www.julep.com/?r=19023025

  3. That's a lot of O Canada! You got all the other profiles I didn't get. I almost put Daphne as an add-on but if it doesn't look like what they showed so much I guess it's a good thing I didn't!

I have 2 coats of Yumi on, I love her :) It's a beautiful sparkle.. though, even with the foil method, I'm not looking forward to taking it off, lol! :)
Good luck with your results of your interview! Fingers are crossed for you here :D

  14. So I got the only box you didn't get ;) I selected Boho Glam for this month! I love the Julep gloss, it looks thick but once you apply it it's quite sheer, it's not stick either which is a big pet peeve of mine when it comes to gloss.
