Another Beauty Subscription: Beauty Box 5 (BB5)

While browsing around Facebook, I stumbled upon a new beauty box subscription service that is based in the US. Like Julep Maven, Beauty Box 5 ships to Canada as well. Have any of you received your February inaugural box? What do you think?

If you aren't keeping track, this service marks the 6th beauty box subscription option available to us Canadian girls! There are Luxe Box, Glymm, Topbox, Glossy Box, Julep Maven, and now Beauty Box 5. As of right now, I have a subscription to Luxe Box, Topbox, Glossy Box, and Julep Maven. I will most likely cancel my Glossy Box subscription just because four subscription is a little excessive.

Topbox: (Email Referral Only) - Sold out until June
Loose Button: Sign Me Up!
Julep Maven: Invite Me! - PromoCode: PENNY for the $0.01 intro offer
Glossy Box: I Want One!
Glymm Box: Subscribe Me!

Price
The subscription is US$12.00 a month including tax and shipping or $30 for 3 months ($10 a month) and $100 for a year ($8.33 a month), which is about the same in Canadian currency. Like Loose Button Luxe Box and Glymm Box, it comes with 4-5 beauty samples, presumably deluxe to full size.

Packaging
From what I have seen, the products comes in an organza sac packaged within a beautiful Tiffany's blue cardboard box. I guess that's pretty environmentally friendly, since it's not a "box within a box".

Brands
The brands that they featured in the February inaugural box were: Weleda, Smith's, Comodynes, Priti NYC. Personally, I have never heard of any of these brands. I feel that the cosmetic industry in the US is much more competitive and saturated, so there are a lot more cosmetic companies out there. I feel like a lot of people sign up for these beauty boxes because they wants brands like Dior and Chanel, and other super high end brands. I can honestly say that I'm guilty of that. I get really giddy when I get a YSL mascara or something from similar brands. But if you're looking to try some independent beauty brands or you're open to trying new companies, I guess this box may be suitable for you. Remember that just because the brands may be low-key, does not mean that they produce low-quality products. From looking at their website, the only company that I recognize is Travalo, which is the company behind the convenient fragrance atomizer. I haven't read or seen any reviews that had the Travalo, so maybe it will be featured in an upcoming box.
Referral Program
In order to get one free box, you must refer 5 friends. If you're interested in signing up, here's my referral link: https://www.beautybox5.com/home.php?key=4f5ffff1dc655. If you want to get the March Beauty Box, sign up by March 15 before midnight PST.

Update: I signed up for BB5 but I still had some reservations about it so I decided to cancel after writing this post. There are some speculations that the March box will be high value, but I just want to wait and see before I decide again.

What do you think about Beauty Box 5? Are you going to sign up?

  1. I wasn't too impressed by the samples in the first box and I don't know if I can justify 6 sample boxes at this point! Can't wait to see what your March box has though!

  2. Ooo thanks for the heads up...not that I need another one of these to try, as per your note on the cost :)

Smith's is one of my favourite brands of all time - their Rosebud Salve lip balms are to die for, and the fact you get a full-size one in that box is awesome. Weleda is also fantastic (randomly, I'm giving stuff away from them on my blog - http://canadiangiftguide.com/winning/), their products are super natural yet work wonders.

  3. I think this blogger copied and shortened EXACTLY what you wrote about Beauty Box 5.

Brands. The brands that were featured in the launch box included: Weleda, Smith's, Comodynes, Priti NYC, and Personally. I have hear of maybe 2 of the 5 brands in this box. I feel that is an awesome idea for Canadians to try out this box considering the products being received maybe that of something we dont even have here or have heard of here!

I love the packaging of these boxes I think it is very cute. I love the Tiffany blue exterior of the box as well as how all the products come within a organza sac which keeps it environmentally friendly not being a box inside of a box!

STRAIGHT OUT OF YOUR POST! LOL

    1. Yeah I definitely see the similarities! She even has the exact same title as me. I wonder if I am the nameless "Facebooker" she mentioned. I also wonder if she thought "Personally" was a brand, because I used that same word to express my own opinion... *sigh*

  4. My March box, which was my first was a little disappointing. I noticed that I got most of the stuff from the intro box, not the same as people who were on their 2nd month. The difference was, that I got a liner and the makeup remover. I'll post a review on my blog, shortly if you're interested. :) I do like to be able to try samples of things we can't find in Canada though. :)
