Julep Valentine Mystery Box

This post is long over due. I received this couple days after Valentine's day but I haven't gotten around to blogging about it until now. I'm sure you are interested in the content of the box, so I'm just going to keep this short and sweet. I received box #5, which isn't too bad, but the golden box was box #7! I paid $20 for this box, and the value of the box can range from $60 to $200. It's a really fun concept and I absolutely love that Julep came up with this idea.

Valentine Mystery Box #5

POMEGRANATE SCRUB
Exfoliate and moisturize in one simple step. Anti-oxidant pomegranate extract and hydrating Shea butter salt scrub will refine, brighten, tone and heal. Your skin will be soft and radiant from head to toe.
Value: $18.00
  • One of my favorite scent (and fruit) is pomegranate. I was really excited to receive this. I like to mix this in with one of my cream body washes to make it extra moisturizing.

JULEP VERNIS
Helena - Ultra saturated fuchsia. Looks great on all skin tone.
Reese - Bright, bubblegum pink. Lovely on pedicures.
Anne - Ultra-saturated violet. A tribute to one of our beautiful celebrity guests! Eye-catching on a pedicure and head-turning on a manicure--especially if your wardrobe is heavy on blacks and neutrals.
Value: $42.00 (3 x $14)
  • They hit the nail on the head on this one, the colors are so me. I especially love the color Anne, it is almost the same colours as my wall in my room. Again, these polishes apply flawlessly with two coats.

GLITTER
Gold star confetti
Value: n/a
  • I'm not a huge fan of nail confetti because I don't really know how to use it and make it look nice at the same time. I'll play around with it and see how it turns out.
Total Value of this box: $60+

I think that's one of the lower denomination of the Valentine mystery boxes but I'm really happy with it. I enjoyed the colours that I received. As much as I love the idea of these mystery boxes, I might have to pass on the next one or at least buy as gift for someone else.

  3. Love your site! It's so pretty! and I LOVE the focus on nail polish. It's awesome and you're so creative! Just wondering, do you find that there's anything special about the Julep brand that makes it stand out from other nail polish brands? Also, do you find consistent value with the Julep Maven boxes every month, or is it a hit and miss kinda thing? Thanks!

    1. Thank you for your kind compliments! To answer your questions, I really like the consistency and application of the polish. I find it comparable to my Dior polish, which I paid well over $20. But I really can't justify paying $14 for each individual polish. As for the Julep Maven program, I do find consistent value. Unlike other subscription boxes, Julep gives you a sneak peak of what's being featured in the incoming month before it is sent out. So you have an opportunity to try a new style or skip the month, or even cancel. The regular fee is $20/month, but you'll always get well over what you pay for. I suggest you sign up for the 1 cent promo box and see if you like it or not. A penny is almost a freebie! I also want to add that they have a great referral program, for every 2 people that sign up, you get a free month!

    2. No problem! So thanks for getting back to me so quick. You are so informative. You have convinced me! and maybe the 1 penny promotion was too good to pass up as a way to try Julep! Bit the bullet and sign up using your referral. Hope my box turns out as good as yours =)

  4. I had NO idea this program existed. Neat alternative to all the other beauty boxes out there. I'm seriously considering signing up, and I'll totally use your referral link!

Since you're a nail star, I thought I should mention that I'm running a couple of pretty polish contests over on my blog. I'm giving away a $50 gift set of LAQA&CO polish pens, and a prize pack from Pretty Beauty & Books including a bottle of Scotch Naturals. Check them out there: http://nailartcouture.blogspot.com/

Good luck & thanks for sharing this awesome program with me!
